Lagu “Paranoid” menjadi salah satu track yang tidak bisa luput dari sejarah musik metal. Tak disangka sebuah situs bernama Dangerous Mind mengatakan lagu ini memiliki riff serupa dengan lagu milik band garage dari era yang sama.

“Paranoid” dikabarkan mirip dengan lagu milik band asal Michigan, Half Life. Track “Get Down” yang dikatakan serupa dengan lagu milik Black Sabbath ini direkam pada tahun 1969, di Detroit, kota kelahiran scene garage rock. Lagu ini sulit menembus radio-radio lokal dan pada akhirnya berakhir dalam kompilasi A-Square (Of Course): The Story Of Michigan’s Legendary A-Square Records.

Meskipun riff kedua lagu ini mirip, kenyataannya Black Sabbath terpisah jarak sangat jauh dari kota basis Half Life ketika menulis “Paranoid”. Keduanya memiliki massa masing-masing dan tidak memiliki kaitan satu sama lain. Nampaknya, hal ini merupakan sebuah kebetulan belaka.

Situs Dangerous Mind pun tidak mengatakan adanya plagiarisme yang dilakukan, baik dari pihak Black Sabbath maupun Half Life. Tidak ada tanggapan dari kedua pihak akan kemiripan kedua lagu ini.
