Kabar gembira buat para penggemar Joy Divison! Kali ini akan terbit buku baru tentang perjalanan karier band post-punk legendaris tersebut. Buku bertajuk This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History ini rencananya akan diterbitkan pada 7 Maret 2019 di Inggris dan 23 April 2019 di Amerika via penerbit Faber & Faber.

This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History ditulis oleh Jon Savage. Sebelumnya Savage sempat membuat beberapa buku biografi band rock seperti The Kinks: the Official Biography (1984) dan England's Dreaming: Sex Pistols and Punk Rock (1991).

Buku ini juga bakal memaparkan beberapa wawancara eksklusif para personel bersama kerabat dekat meliputi mendiang Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Peter Saville, hingga Deborah Curtis. Wawancara ini dikumpulkan selama tiga dekade dan menjadi pelengkap dari beberapa buku-buku Joy Division terdahulu.

Sebelum versi Jon Savage rilis, beberapa buku tentang Joy Division yang sempat terbit di antaranya Joy Division: Love Tear Will Apart Us Again (2004) oleh Kevin Cummins, Joy Division and the Making of Unknown Pleasures (2006) oleh Jack Kennedy, Joy Division Piece (2007) oleh Paul Morley, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division (2012) oleh Peter Hook.
