U2 baru saja resmi mengumumkan akan merilis vinyl single “The Blackout” berukuran 12 inci. Single ini merupakan track jagoan yang diambil dari album terbaru mereka, Songs of Experience. Untuk single edisi spesial rencananya akan dirilis melalui label rekaman milik Jack White, Third Man Records pada 24 November mendatang, bertepatan dengan perayaan Record Store Day Black Friday.

Di dalam versi vinyl juga memuat versi remix dari produser Jacknife Lee. Untuk kopian vinyl berwarna hitam rencananya akan dilepas di toko-toko musik independen yang berpartisipasi di Record Store Day Black Friday. Sementara itu, untuk kopian piringan hitam berwarna tersedia di toko Third Man milik Jack White yang berlokasi di Nashville dan Detroit.

Single “The Blackout” sendiri dirilis kuartet U2 pada bulan Agustus lalu. Sebelumnya, U2 juga telah lebih dulu membocorkan single teranyar berjudul “You’re The Best Thing About Me”. Kedua single ini pun jadi lagu pemanasan buat para fans sebelum sang idola resmi menebar album terbaru. Songs of Experience nantinya akan dirilis serentak pada 1 Desember mendatang

Selama kurun waktu tiga tahun, U2 vakum menetaskan karya. Bono dkk terakhir merilis album penuh berjudul Songs of Innocence pada tahun 2014 lalu, di bawah naungan label Island. Di album itu juga diproduseri langsung oleh Danger Mouse.
