Sebagaimana yang tertera pada banner situs resmi mereka, At The Drive-In (ATDI) mengumumkan bahwa mereka telah 'rujuk' dan siap berkumpul kembali di tahun 2016 ini. Unit post-hardcore legendaris ini menjanjikan bakal merangkai tur panjang dan juga akan merilis karya musik terbaru semenjak album terakhir mereka, Relationship of Command (2000).

Sejauh ini, ATDI sudah mengkonfirmasi bakal tampil pada dua festival musik di bulan Mei 2016, yaitu Rock on the Range di Columbus (Ohio) dan Shaky Knees di Atlanta (Georgia). Informasi lebih lanjut dan jadwal show yang lain akan diumumkan kemudian.

Sejak reuni insidentil di tahun 2012, status ATDI masih belum jelas juga. Sepulang dari tur tersebut, co-founder Omar Rodriguez-Lopez mengaku tidak nyaman lagi ketika membawakan lagu-lagu lawas ATDI.

"When playing those songs, I thought, ‘Here’s a person at the time that I don’t relate to anymore.’ He didn’t care about his life and was doing drugs and was really disconnected from the world and a whole lot of other personal stuff that I won’t get into," katanya terus terang. "If I give myself to that, I can feel the psychological effects of that personality in the same way that an actor can say it wasn’t healthy to live in that role so long or bring that role home every night.”

Dengan kepastian soal tur dan album baru ATDI ini, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez dkk bakal kembali bersemangat menjalani masa yang sibuk di tahun 2016. Keputusan untuk membubarkan The Mars Volta pada tahun 2013, juga membuka peluang lebar bagi sang frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala untuk kembali berkarya bersama ATDI.
